This Middlesborough based label was only formed in 2005 and they have already put together a fantastic collection of releases. It’s clear though that LMD has developed quickly over the past two years and this shows in the quality of this latest offering from Jay Tripwire along with the previous release from Luckystars 'Swimming under the ice’.
.
Mr Tripwire consistently delivers his unique house sound. Smooth rhythms or acid tinged grooves, either way the same funk fuelled sound remains underneath. Three tracks here all of which suit that time of the evening when the asses begin to shake. 'Harmony and Peace’ uses a preacher type vocal sample to get the message across. 'Navajo Soul’ has a solid funky bassline using subtle key changes and an excellent central breakdown. The pick of the three though and one of my favourite tracks of the moment is 'Brothers and Sisters’ again using a simple vocal sample, this is where Jay uses his expertise to create an acid twinged bassline that flows throughout. Nice!
Here’s to more quality tracks from the North East. I just hope they don’t find that dog anytime soon |
